Eva McCulloch (Efrat Dor) may be secretly controlling Iris’ Mirror World clone in The Flash season 6. Eva McCulloch is a new character introduced in the latest episode of The Flash, and the missing wife of the CEO of McCulloch Technologies. Iris encountered her in the mysterious new dimension of Mirror World after being dragged through a large mirror in Eva’s office.

While Iris was trapped in Mirror World, a duplicate of Iris took her place in Central City, spending Valentine’s Day with Barry (Grant Gustin), helping him stop a gang war, and looking for the Mirror Gun from season 5, which Barry eventually handed over to her in Tuesday’s episode. Barry initially thought Iris was acting strangely, but no longer seems suspicious, which is a bad sign for the real Iris. As things currently stand, no one in Team Flash is aware of the clone’s true nature, which means rescue for Iris may not be coming any time soon.

The Flash season 6, episode 12, titled “A Girl Named Sue”, attempts to offer an explanation for the Iris clone, which isn’t an alternate Earth doppelganger. According to Eva, the clone is a “fractal variable” caused by the mirror. In truth, this description doesn’t explain much, or what this clone wants. It’s possible that Eva is lying about the clone. It could be that she created it, and is somehow controlling it from within Mirror World.

Why would she want to do that? Eva may be lying about the clone, but she could easily be telling the truth about being stuck in Mirror World. If that’s the case, she may have found a way to be active in the real world without leaving her prison. If Eva has powers - and the scene where she controls the mirror shards confirms that she does - she could have created a clone of Iris when she came too close to the mirror, and it now operates as an extension of herself.

The actions of the Iris clone should be taken into account. She’s looking for the Mirror Gun and claims she wants to use it to bring down Eva’s husband, Joseph Carver (Eric Nenninger). This could be some version of the truth. She expressed a great deal of anger when talking about him to Barry, which he clearly noticed. This may not have been an act to trick Barry, and instead could be an indication of what Eva is doing with Iris’ clone. Joseph Carver, a villain and the leader of the Black Hole, could be responsible for Eva’s fate. If so, Eva may have revenge on her mind, and Iris’ clone could be a means to an end.

Eva may have seemed innocent enough in Tuesday’s episode, but it wouldn’t be all that surprising for a seemingly “good” character to have a secret agenda. After all, Eva McCulloch’s name suggests that she’s a gender-swapped version of the original Mirror Master from DC Comics, Evan McCulloch. Evan is one of the Flash’s biggest villains in the comics. It’s been speculated that The Flash will see Eva become the Arrowverse’s next Mirror Master - but she may have already reached that point.
