In an attempt to further emphasize the importance of Wonder Woman and the The Flash’s monumental impacts on the DC Comics universe, both heroes will see their titular comics returning to legacy numbering following the release of their highly anticipated and celebratory #750 issues in January and February.

DC Comics announced the move in an announcement on their website last week. Their reason for the switch was delivered in a quote from SVP and Editor-In-Chief Bob Harras:

In addition, renowned writers and artists will take on the massive issues. For The Flash, Joshua Williamson, Geoff Johns, Michael Moreci, Marv Wolfman, and Francis Manapul will serve as writers and  Rafa Sandoval, Jordi Tarragona, Scott Kolins, Stephen Segovia, David Marquez, Bryan Hitch, Francis Manapul, and Riley Rossmo will serve as artists. For Wonder Woman, Vita Ayala, Marguerite Bennett, Kami Garcia, Dean Hale, Shannon Hale, Jeff Loveness, Steve Orlando, Greg Rucka, Gail Simone, and Mariko Tamaki will write while Elena Casagrande, Colleen Doran, Jesus Merino, and Gabriel Picolo will complete the artwork. Wonder Woman’s creative team, in particular, features many of the most notable female creators in DC at the moment working with the publication’s most iconic female character.

As with Action Comics and Detective Comics, Wonder Woman and The Flash are part of the DNA of the DC universe. Resuming our Legacy numbering for these titles enables both past and current fans to embrace the rich history of both of these iconic characters and is a reaffirmation that in the DC universe, everything counts.

After these pinnacle releases are finished, fans of both the speedster and the princess will be able to see their issues given the same numerical significance as seen in Action Comics with Superman and Detective Comics with Batman, which have both surpassed issue #1000.
