Fox’s new series Flirty Dancing will put blind dates on the dance floor. The show is a smash hit in the United Kingdom, but will soon audiences will find out if it sashay its way into Americans’ hearts.

The premise behind the show is to have two people learn half of a dance. They will eventually come together on a blind date and perform with each other as their introduction. The intimacy of dancing without saying a word could be the start of something wonderful for some couples. In other cases, it could heighten incompatibilities. The show has enjoyed comfortable ratings abroad. Viewers across the pond tune in each week to gauge the chemistry between the strangers. On the American adaptation, former World of Dance presenter Jenna Dewan will act as host and mentor to the couples. Fans might remember Dewan from her own dancing days. She toured with pop stars P!nk, Justin Timberlake, and Janet Jackson.

Fox Entertainment executive Rob Wade spoke about having Dewan as their host, saying (via Variety), “Jenna is our dream host. She knows all about how powerful connection and chemistry can be on the dance floor. So there really is no one better to help guide these singles in their search for love.” After Dewan’s successful career as a dancer, she segued into a career on the big screen. In 2006, she was cast in the feature Step Up, opposite Channing Tatum. The two fell in love while filming and later married. Watch the preview of Flirty Dancing below:

Dewan will be using her own skills to aid the contestants in sharpening their choreography while providing them with emotional support. Flirty Dancing will call upon those same core competencies while giving Dewan an exclusive spotlight in which to shine. Not only that, but the show offers Dewan a fresh career start amid changes in her own personal life. She and Tatum divorced in 2019, and she’s now expecting a child with actor Steve Kazee.

In light of the success of shows like Dancing With the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, Flirty Dancing adds the component of romance to set itself apart from all the rest. Watching the normal nightmare that is blind dating will only get more exciting when these couples scrutinize each other’s looks and sensuality while performing for the first time. Dewan is not only skilled, but her own compelling personal and professional experiences will make this one a must-see. We are a nation obsessed with love, sex, and fierce choreography. So queue up Sam Smith and Normani’s “Dancing With a Stranger,” because it is game on.
