While most manufacturers are set to release the Android 11 beta update for their devices, Meizu seems to be lagging behind. The company has begun the process to recruit beta testers for Flyme OS 8.1. This custom skin over Android will be based on Android 10. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that Android 11 will not be showing up on Meizu devices any time soon.

Nonetheless, the announcement for the internal recruitment came from Webio. And the information was also shared via the Meizu community forum. Twelve smartphones from the company will be part of the internal beta program for Flyme OS 8.1.

Here’s a rough translation of the announcement which was made via the Meizu community forum in China.

So the registration for interested users will begin from June 23 and will go on till July 31. The first beta update will be released on July 21 to users who manage to register early.

It’s worth noting that the update will first arrive for the Meizu 16s Pro, Meizu 16s, Meizu 16th, and Meizu 16th Plus from July 21. And towards the end of the month, the remaining Meizu devices will begin receiving the update. Well, that is only for those users who register to participate in the program.

In case you are interested in being part of the Flyme OS 8.1 beta testing, you can register via the System update application. Simply head over to System update and tap on the “Android 10 Internal Test Recruitment” option.

Flyme OS 8.1 is expected to bring some new improvements and features to Meizu devices. One such feature is the introduction of OneMind 4.0 which is the company’s own AI-platform. And along with that, the voice assistant Aicy has also been improved. The new skin over Android was first introduced on Meizu’s 17 series last month.

Thankfully, with the beta testing kicking off soon, more users will be able to experience the refreshed Flyme OS 8.1 skin on their Meizu devices.
