The information published a report today with details about a new startup former Apple Retail SVP Ron Johnson is building. The report shares that Johnson is launching a new delivery service focused on tech products following his brief run as CEO of retailer JCPenney:

Jerry McDougal, who The Information says is working with Johnson on launching the startup, left Apple at the start of last year roughly a year and a half after Ron Johnson left to take the JCPenney CEO gig. For reference, Johnson remained in his CEO role for about three months after McDougal left Apple.

Compared to other past Apple executives like ousted Scott Forstall, the former head of Apple’s retail division has been relatively vocal about his time at Apple since leaving the company. Johnson, of course, was replaced by now ousted John Browett and eventually former Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts.

Earlier this month Ron Johnson appeared on Andreessen Horowitz’s podcast to discuss, among other things, the challenge startups face with the expense of brick-and-mortar stores and getting products in front of customers. It sounds like Johnson may have been describing a problem that he may want to solve.
