Chapter 2 Season 2 of Fortnite  is nearly here, and developer Epic Games is doing everything they can to build hype for its release, including the use of real world teasers that involve cat noises and gold handprints splattered around the world. Epic Games is no stranger to out of the box marketing, proven by the company’s past promotions for Fortnite. Once, they put a giant hamburger mascot from the game in a California desert.

The lead-up to Chapter 2 Season 2 of Fortnite has been longer than the usual break between Seasons. One reason why is because Epic Games is moving Fortnite to Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics engine. Although Epic says that the goal with Chapter 2 Season 2 is to “ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite,” the company does admit there may be some bumps along the way. However, so much has been made about the change in the physics engine, that Epic has largely been able to avoid talking about what kind of new content fans can expect to see in the next Season. Over the past few days, though, new details have begun to trickle out, both online and in the real world.

According to some keen investigative reporting from Kotaku, teasers for the next Season of Fortnite have begun to pop up all around the globe. Most of these ad teasers appear to be either physical or digital posters with the Fortnite logo, obscured by a gold hand print. These posters also include phone numbers. The Los Angeles based number is answered by a pre-recorded statement that says “Agency recruitment drive is a go. Happy hunting, agents….Agents, oil rig operation confirmed,” before cutting out.

While the voice recording is playing, there are clear, distinguishable sounds of seagulls shrieking and cats meowing. Fortnite fans have been racing in an attempt to decipher what all of this means, and although all these factors seem obtuse, a consensus has begun to take shape within the community. Many believe that gold will be a building item next Season, joining wood, brick, and metal. In addition, it seems likely that “The Agency” will become a major component of the game-world. As for how cats and seagulls come into play, that remains to be seen, although it is worth noting that Fortnite data miners recently found a sound file titled “Agent Meowsicles” that contains music and cat noises.

Although many, or at least some, hoped (or feared) that Fortnite’s teasers alluded to a Cats movie crossover, that theory seems to be mostly flushed out by now. Instead, it appears increasingly likely that Chapter 2 Season 2 of Fortnite is set to introduce “The Agency,” a new building material, and cats along with a new physics engine. Fans won’t have to wait long though to see how this all ties together, as Chapter 2 Season 2 of Fortnite is set to launch on February 20.
