It looks as if Fortnite is getting ready to launch a Birds of Prey (And The Fabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn) themed event, judging from the company’s recent social media posts. Fortnite is no stranger to crossing over with whatever movie franchise release looks to be currently popular in the cultural mindset, having not only hosted a larger crossover event last year for Avengers: Endgame but also for the much-anticipated finale of the Skywalker saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
As time goes on and the popularity of Fortnite only grows, these crossover events have become more and more important. While earlier film crossover events only saw themed weapons, character skins, and unlockable items and emotes added to the game, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actually held a live television video reveal inside of Fortnite, and certain words spoken by one of the film’s most important antagonists were used as a main plot point in the following film even though those words were only heard by Fortnite players.
With early screenings of Birds of Prey (And The Fabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn) already under way and the film set to open to the public very, very soon, it’s doubtful any such extra content will be included in any crossover event which may come to Fortnite. However, that doesn’t mean a crossover with the upcoming DC Comics movie isn’t planned, as Fortnite’s official Instagram account hints at with the image below.
This isn’t the first time Fortnite has hinted at a Birds of Prey (And The Fabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) crossover, but it is the most concrete proof fans have had so far one will be coming soon. Coupled with the impending release of the film, which should be hitting theaters in the United States on February 7th, 2020, it seems as if such a crossover, if it does indeed exist, must begin soon.
Judging from the image above, Harley Quinn’s penchant for wooden mallets, and Fortnite’s often-used mechanic of replacing the normal pickaxe with a melee weapon themed around the current crossover, it’s quite likely Fortnite players will soon be able to use Harley’s hammer in-game, probably along with a number of Quinn-themed skins and emotes. While fans will have to wait for an official announcement to be certain, it’s looking more and more like Harley Quinn, and perhaps more of her co-stars from Birds Of Prey (And The Fabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn) will be arriving in Fortnite soon.
